Emma joined Phillips & Leigh in October 2015; in the time since she has primarily gained experience in the preparation, drafting and prosecution of patent applications both in the UK and at the EPO. Additionally she has gained experience in preparing Trade Mark and Design applications. She works predominantly in the fields of electronics, aerospace engineering, computing and photonics as well as other optical technologies.
Emma has a degree in Physics from Imperial College London, this broad-based course covered subjects including Fluid Dynamics, Electromagnetism, Laser Physics and Technology, Space Physics as well Managing Innovation. Her final year project was focussed on the statistical analysis of historic data of the Sun’s magnetic field behaviour during the Space Age. Using this analysis she advised the ESA Solar Orbiter Magnetometer team in calibrating their instrument prior to the mission commencement.
Emma balances her spare time between touring on her bicycle and experimenting in the kitchen; additionally in late 2017 she became a member of the IP Out Committee.
