Career history
Robert spent five years working in research and development. Three years were as an electro-optic scientist in a multinational firm and two years as a consultant scientist in an SME working with industry and academia on a number of UK and European collaborative projects. During his time in industry Robert worked with:

Advanced photonic components
Component packaging and rapid prototyping
High speed all-optical fibre systems
Semiconductor devices and materials; dielectrics; deposition systems
Numerical simulation software
Thin film coatings; nanotechnology
High speed RF electronics
Micro-fluidics and ion traps

During his R&D work, Robert published numerous scientific papers and became an inventor with 3 patents currently pending. Robert joined Phillips and Leigh in 2006 to train as a Patent Attorney and passed the QMUL certificate in Intellectual Property Law in 2007.
